Hi. Can calcium carbonate and zinc form carbon monoxide? If so, what
conditions need to be followed? Does the calcium and zinc need to be
heated, to what temperature? Do they need to be in a solution with
water?

Also, would the calcium carbonate and zinc purchased from the
following website work?

Possibly- calcium carbonate will give off carbon dioxide when heated,
which **may** be reduced to carbon monoxide by the zinc under
appropriate conditions. But it sounds like a very odd way to generate
CO.

Thermal decomposition of metal oxalates or formates, I think, is a
much more reliable way to get CO.
